Strategic planning is an essential component in meeting supply chain goals. Such cross-functional engagement guarantees a more comprehensive picture of the transaction and helps SM to more effectively satisfy Postal Service and customer goals. In order to increase the likelihood of getting the greatest value and lowering transaction costs, strategic planning is a crucial component. As a result, each Category Management Center (CMC) is obliged to create and maintain a documented supply strategy (including input from relevant customers) for each key expenditure category for which they are accountable. The strategy will be centered on the goals that have been set as well as the techniques and materials required to succeed in the supply category in the upcoming year. At a minimum, category strategies will be reviewed annually by appropriate management levels within SM.
